July 6 is the holiday of the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The transformation of the capital of Kazakhstan into a real modern city and a leading financial and logistics hub is directly related to the far-sighted policy of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Today, Astana has become not only the political center of Kazakhstan, but also a regional hub, the center of major international events.
The head of state made a bold initiative to move the capital from Almaty to Akmola, and then on July 6, 1994, he convinced the national parliament to accept it. On December 10, 1997, the city of Akmola officially became the capital of Kazakhstan, and on July 6, 1998, it was introduced to the world under the name Astana.
