Dear applicants!

It is considered that geology is not a profession, but a way of life. People who know how to appreciate and admire the mysteries of nature, who are ready to work actively and creatively, who know how to make friends and be romantics come to us.

Kazakhstan occupies a significant place in terms of proven reserves and the level of mining, so with a geological specialty you can always be confident in the future.

Students at the school receive knowledge on the following educational programs:

Bachelor's degree: "6B07202-Geology and exploration of mineral deposits"

Master's degree: "7M07202-Geology and exploration of mineral deposits"

Doctor's degree: "8D07202-Geology and exploration of mineral deposits"

The school has a highly qualified teaching staff and all the necessary high-tech equipment for preparing bachelors, masters and Ph.Ds.

Sincerely, Dean of the School of Geology,

About the School of Geology

The mission of SG, based on the requirements of the market and rapidly developing production, is high-quality training of specialists. Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs are developed with the involvement of specialists from subsurface user companies. In order to increase the competitiveness of graduates, the faculty uses the latest specialized software products and technologies in the educational process, involving students in research projects.

SG graduates are demanded in mining companies, state geological services and agencies, design and survey and research institutes, engineering and consulting companies, environmental organizations and agencies, educational and scientific institutions, foreign companies and projects. Graduates of SG - Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees can hold the following positions: exploration geologist, geological engineer, hydrogeologist, geophysicist, geochemist, paleontologist, geologist-analyst, field modeling specialist, environmental geologist, project manager, subsurface use manager, researcher/teacher, geological exploration consultant, cartographer, drilling supervisor.

Considering the growing demand for mineral resources and renewable energy sources, geologists will be in demand not only in traditional industries, but also in promising areas related to the environment, restoration of natural resources and new mining technologies.

Advantages of SG

- highly qualified teaching staff;

- training using innovative methods and modern specialized software;

- high demand for KBTU graduates in Kazakhstan and international companies;

- close communication with subsurface user companies that participate in joint personnel training.

SG research

Our professors and teachers are managers and executors of grants from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

- AP09260097 "Study of the lithological and stratigraphic range of oil and gas content of sedimentary basins of East Kazakhstan in order to substantiate potentially promising oil and gas complexes for the establishment of prospecting and exploration for hydrocarbons" 2021-2023. The head is V.V. Korobkin, Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of KBTU. The purpose of the work is to study the lithological and stratigraphic range of the oil and gas content of the sedimentary basins of East Kazakhstan in order to substantiate potentially promising oil and gas complexes for conducting prospecting and exploration for hydrocarbon raw materials.

- IRN AP14870515 – "Geological paleostructures of Triassic structures of the above-salt oil and gas complex of the south-east of the Caspian basin". Head - Ibrashev Kenzhebek Niyazovich, mining engineer-driller, Candidate of Technical Sciences Responsible executor: Akhmetzhanov Aitbek Zhamsatovich, Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor of KBTU. The purpose of the work is to substantiate optimal directions of oil and gas exploration based on a comprehensive analysis of structural, sedimentation, lithological-stratigraphic and paleogeographic features of the development of the Caspian sedimentary basin, generalization of multidisciplinary geological and geophysical materials, identification of scenarios for the formation and patterns of the structure of oil and gas deposits in the Triassic salt complex.
