DEAR APPLICANTS!
The oil and gas industry plays a leading role in the economy of our country. Kazakhstan is included in the list of top countries where large hydrocarbon reserves are available, developed and produced. Therefore, the oil and gas sector of the country's economy always needs highly qualified specialists.
The School of Energy and Oil and Gas Industry trains specialists in the educational program “Oil and Gas Business” at three levels of training: bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies. To train specialists, we have a qualified staff of teaching staff; representatives of manufacturing enterprises are involved in teaching. The school is equipped with laboratories for petroleum engineering, drilling and drilling and cementing fluids, mechanics and general hydraulics, applied modeling of oil and gas fields using DrillSim 20, Eclipse, Petrel and others. The school actively cooperates with many large oil and gas companies in the country, attracting them to assist in the development of educational plans, organization of internships for students, and employment of graduates. The school's students are active members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The school also provides the opportunity for graduates of the APEC PetroTechnic Higher College to undergo shortened training and receive a bachelor's degree. The school prepares masters in the educational program “Management of Industrial Projects and Engineering” under an agreement with Agip Karachaganak B.V. and Eni Corporate University S.p.A.
Graduates of the school are always in demand in the labor market and meet the needs of employers in the oil and gas industry.
If you choose our educational programs for higher education and as a foundation for a future profession, we believe that you will become a competitive and qualified specialist.
Together with you, we will achieve high achievements in the main mission of the school – training personnel with the necessary knowledge and competencies in the oil and gas industry and educating the country's future generation.
The oil and gas complex is an important element of the domestic and foreign economy of our country, which can become the core for the high-tech industry and modern high-tech production. Taking this fact into account, the School of Energy and Petroleum Industry (SEPI) sets itself the goal of producing a new generation of engineers who will contribute to the technologically and cost-effective operation and development of oil and gas fields.
Bachelor's students at SEPI receive the following knowledge and skills over the course of four years of study:
- Excellent communication skills in three languages (Kazakh, Russian and English);
- Developed teamwork skills by taking project management courses and participating in group projects;
- Excellent mathematical abilities, as a result of completing five mathematical disciplines;
- Excellent engineering skills, systematic and critical thinking, analytical mind;
- Excellent understanding of the oil and gas industry and all its disciplines: geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, modeling and simulation;
- High moral and personal values acquired within the university.
After graduating from university, young professionals can start their careers in leading companies:
KazMunayGas;
Tengizchevroil;
PETROKAZAHSTAN OVERSIZ SERVISEZ INK.;
AGIP KCO;
Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.;
KazTransOil;
Halliburton;
MaerskOil;
InterGas Central Asia;
Baker Hughes;
Schlumberger;
and etc.
For those who have an engineering degree and are interested in a career in the oil and gas industry, as well as those wishing to deepen their knowledge, there is the opportunity to enroll in the master's program in Petroleum Engineering. It is more in-depth and prepares students to work on high-level problems. We have also launched a master's program in Industrial Project Management and Engineering because we believe that the oil and gas industry needs specialists with these skillsets.
The school is opening a new master's degree program in energy transition, which is relevant at the present stage.
People who have found their calling in science and research can continue their doctoral studies in the specialty “Oil and Gas Engineering”. During this three-year program, students study theoretical coursework and focus on conducting research. Upon completion of the program, they can join the teaching staff of a university, or work in the research and development center of a company.
We are also launching a double-degree doctoral program with Robert Gordon University (UK) using the 2+2 formula (Petroleum Engineering PhD and Doctor of Engineering EngD).
Sincerely,
Dean of the School of Energy and Petroleum Industry
Abdulakhat A.Ismailov.
