May 1 is the day of our national unity, a holiday of friendship and harmony of all ethnic groups of Kazakhstan, it is a holiday of Kazakhstani patriotism, devotion to our country and people. More than 150 ethnic groups live in peace and harmony in Kazakhstan.

The holiday began to be celebrated in 1996. On October 18, 1995, the President of Kazakhstan signed a decree declaring May 1 the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.

This bright spring festival is held in every city of Kazakhstan. It is of great importance that various cultural centers participate in the holiday in order to familiarize the people of Kazakhstan with the traditions of other peoples. Fun dances, sports competitions – all this makes the event one of the brightest and favorite holidays for the people of Kazakhstan.

This holiday not only introduces the people of Kazakhstan to the traditions and culture of other nationalities living in the country, it is designed to consolidate the nation into a single whole.

In honor of this holiday, the Scientific Library organized an exhibition. The following books were presented at the exhibition:
