From October 25 to 27, 2024, the 8th Scientific Conference on the Theory of Multiphysics Coupling and its Applications in Geotechnics, as well as the Scientific Conference on Theory and Technology of Mechanics for Energy and Resources, was held at the Beijing Conference Center. The forum was organized by the University of Science and Technology Beijing. The Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) participated in the event, represented by the Director of the R&D Institute "One Belt, One Road," Professor S.B. Aidarova, and Chief Manager A. Temirkhan.

This conference provided a high-level platform for international and local experts, scientists, and engineers to exchange the latest scientific findings, practical experience, and achievements in the field of multiphysics coupling within geotechnics and to address emerging challenges in this area. Discussions focused on innovations and developments in multiphysics coupling theories and technologies, specifically applied to energy resources and environmental protection, thereby fostering academic and technical cooperation and progress.

Special emphasis was placed on the national strategy to reduce peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality, as well as on promoting “green” and efficient development of the energy resources economy. A range of new issues and challenges also arose, particularly concerning complex thermal-hydraulic-mechanical and chemical interactions within complex geological, engineering, and energy environments.

Professor S.B. Aidarova delivered a plenary report on KBTU’s experience in colloid chemistry and nanodispersed materials as a foundation for industrial applications in various sectors. Participation in the forum also facilitated the establishment of new business connections with representatives from leading Chinese universities in this field.

KBTU will continue to expand international cooperation in education and innovation, making a significant contribution to integration processes and technological modernization.
