Ahead of Republic Day, KBTU hosted a presentation of the novel Үрей (Burden of Fear – Russian version), based on real events from the history of the Kazakh people.

The author of the work is the renowned financier and esteemed economist of Kazakhstan, Kolan Amanov (1932–2019). He was a member of the Writers' Union and the Journalists' Union of Kazakhstan and the author of four literary books, numerous essays, and stories dedicated to the social and cultural life of the country.

The presentation was led by his daughter, Zhanat Berdalina, co-founder of the public association Erkin El. For over a decade, she held the roles of managing partner and president of KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, becoming a key figure in the corporate sector's development in the region.

The novel resonated deeply with students and young readers who attended the event. The presentation evolved into a lively discussion, during which participants actively explored the main themes of the work. At the close of the event, KBTU students invited the speakers to conduct a series of open guest lectures on the key issues raised in the novel.
