ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) is an international programming competition held among university students. It is considered one of the most prestigious in the field of computer science and programming, as it helps develop programming and algorithmic thinking skills and serves as a platform for interaction between universities and companies. Participation in this competition opens doors for future specialists to start careers at major global IT companies. This year, the international competition was held from September 15 to 20 in the city of Astana, with over 1,400 participants from 50 countries. Student teams from universities such as MIT, Harvard, KAIST, Tsinghua, Oxford, MIPT, and others took part.

For the first time in the country's history, the KBTU team received an award as the first among 140 teams worldwide to solve a challenging problem (problem D). It is worth noting that the KBTU team has qualified for the ICPC World Finals eight times, which is the best result for the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This year’s KBTU team in the finals consisted of students Amanbol Kanatuly, Ivan Topuria, Dinmukhamed Tursynbai, and team coach Alimzhan Amanov, a lecturer and coordinator of the School of Information Technology and Engineering.

To date, most participants who have competed in the ICPC provide IT services worldwide, working for international companies such as Google, Microsoft, Booking.com, Facebook, and others. Five teams from Kazakhstan participated in the finals: KBTU, IITU, AITU, Nazarbayev University, and SDU University.

The ICPC finals are held once a year, with regional qualifying rounds taking place throughout the year. The Kazakhstan team competes in the Northern Eurasia region, where they face the strongest universities from the CIS.
