On August 23, 2024, the International Summer School successfully concluded, marking an important event for young scientists and educators. Organized by the National Academy of Sciences under the President of Kazakhstan and KBTU, the school brought together international and Kazakhstani experts, as well as over 60 participants from various universities and institutes across the country, providing unique opportunities for experience exchange and professional development.
Throughout the program, participants delved into current scientific topics such as sustainable development, ecology, and artificial intelligence, and presented their scientific projects in a competition, which became the central event of the school.
The scientific project competition resulted in three winners being selected by the experts:
- First place was awarded to Madiyar Kystaubay for his project on "The Issue of Restoring the Population of the Endangered Endemic Scorzonera tau-sagyz as a Source of Natural Rubber." Madiyar presented research aimed at restoring the population of this rare endemic species, which could become a promising source of natural rubber amid the global shortage of natural resources.
Second place went to Dana Tsoy for her innovative project, "VR Simulator for Angioplasty." Her development aims to create a virtual reality environment for medical professionals, allowing highly effective training for complex surgical procedures.
- Third place was awarded to Kenessary Garifulla, a student from KBTU, for his project "UniShuttle — A Passenger Transportation Service for Students." His project proposes creating a platform designed to provide affordable and convenient passenger transportation for students, which is particularly relevant for universities located in remote areas.
In closing the school, the organizers emphasized the importance of such events in stimulating innovation and supporting young professionals. The knowledge and connections gained will help participants in their future professional endeavors, and the projects of the competition winners may soon become the basis for new successful startups.
