The ranking is based on criteria such as the quality of education, efforts towards inclusivity, development of sustainable infrastructure, promotion of gender equality, provision of a safe and supportive environment, and others.
The rankings were published by the prestigious British publication, Times Higher Education, and are considered among the most influential international university rankings.
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities based on their contributions towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Universities are evaluated on four key indicators: research in relevant areas, management of sustainable development factors, the university's engagement at regional, national, and international levels, and the education of students on sustainable development goals.
KBTU has secured its position in THE Impact Rankings with a score of 46.9 out of 100. This is an improvement compared to last year's score of 46.1. The 2023 rankings included 1591 universities, which is an increase of 181 compared to the previous year. KBTU provided data for nine out of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notably, the university achieved high scores in SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy), SDG 1 (No poverty), and SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities). These results highlight KBTU's commitment to being an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable institution.
