On March 10, 2022, TEDxKBTU, a self-organized TED event, was successfully held at our university for the first time.

TEDx conferences are affiliated to the main TED event and are held in the spirit of the mission "Ideas Worth Spreading". Speakers share world-changing ideas that everyone should learn. TEDx are organized by local communities, cities and major organizations, and now the conference has been organized at KBTU.

 

The audience was greeted by acting Rector, Chairman of the Board Gabdullin Maratbek Tulebergenovich, he recalled that TED is the most important and status platform for speakers and thanked all the participants, speakers and organizers of the event (KBTU Student Excellence).

Within the framework of the Conference, 7 speakers covered a wide range of issues related to Self-Development and motivation. Young successful guys talked about their life situations, failures, experiences that helped them move on and achieve success.

 

Damelya Sweet (Kazakhstani fashion blogger, influencer, ambassador of msq.woman, adika _perfume) was the first of the announced speakers. She chose the topic “Difficulties on the path to success” and talked about how much a personal brand means in various areas of life.

The topic of Akbar and Abylaikhan's speech was the issue of difficult decisions that we are afraid to make throughout our lives. “Go where it's scary” - this is how the speakers inspired everyone to move forward despite the fear of change.

 

The next speaker was Olzhas Nurbaev (director, actor, graduate of KBTU with a degree in Economics (2013), master student of the New York Film Academy (Los Angeles) with a degree in Cinema and Media Directing (2016-2017) with the topic “How to take a colossal decision in life without fear of the consequences?". He spoke about his professional path, about the importance of self-realization and the search for oneself. According to the speaker, "Only those who do nothing do not make mistakes. But we still continue to be afraid of them. But in vain! After all, allowing ourselves not to be perfect, we get a chance to take a broader look at the world and discover new opportunities in it". Olzhas noted that the knowledge gained at KBTU became a solid foundation for his further professional and personal development, which KBTU teaches, first of all, discipline and work, constructive thinking, multitasking, structured work.

 

The topic “Educating Gender Equality” was revealed by Assel Issina, Global Director of Marketing and Communications at the RESMAN oil company, member of the Norwegian shooting sports team, kung fu black belt candidate, founder of Women Empowerment at KBTU, vice president of KBTU Alumni Association. She shared her childhood story. “Children imitate the pattern of behavior they see in the family and trust it. If you respect your partner, share household chores with him, do not tolerate the humiliation of others towards you or your spouse, the child will be less subject to gender stereotypes” Assel summed up.

 

Mastura Abdulloeva also spoke at TEDxKBTU with the topic “How to overcome domestic violence and become happy?”. Mastura is 20 years old. She is from Dushanbe, Tajikistan. She taught English at 16, robotics and programming at 18. She graduated from the TED Education school of oratory, a graduate of the College Preparatory Club 2020 grant project and the Network by Consensus youth network of the UN Program Office in Tajikistan, the winner of the "Right and Dignity Cup 2020" Tournament of the Aga Khan Public Project , Vice-President of the KBTU Debate Club, ex-President of the American Space Dushanbe Debate Club.

 

Speaker Arsen Bulekov is one of the best graduates of KBTU (2009-2013, Faculty of FEOGI), worked in oilfield services company Schlumberger in such countries as Venezuela, UAE, France, Russia, Kurdistan, and Qatar. At the age of 25, he became the youngest Deputy Dean at Satbayev University. Graduated with honors from one of the best master's programs in the world in Sports Management at Coventry University, UK. Now he is the Director of the Sports Management Center at Almaty Management University. Arsen shared with the public his warm memories of student life at KBTU, of his favorite teachers.

 

At the end of the event, the speakers got letters of gratitude from the rector.
