On December 27, 2021, a meeting of the project team from UNDP Kazakhstan and the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) was held. At the meeting, acting Rector of KBTU, Maratbek Tulebergenovich Gabdullin, noted that the university is one of the leaders in the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of the quality of education, the quality of teaching staff, modern programs, equipment and close ties with the industry.
KBTU also carries out project activities in various areas, including those identified by the UN in the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), green economy, artificial intelligence, support for women and other areas. Acting rector of KBTU noted that the university has the full potential for the implementation of projects both in academic activities and in scientific developments.
UNDP and KBTU with the financial support of the European Union is implementing a program to educate women from Afghanistan. As part of the project, 10 Afghan women have already studied the TVET Finance program at KBTU. In addition, within the framework of the project, 5 women received master’s degrees in finance. At the moment, 4 bachelors in the 2nd year are studying under the UNDP project, 11 people in the TVET Mining program and 18 people in additional education courses. KBTU with the partner - Janser HR&Academy (https://janseracademy.com/) - conducts certified ISO courses for project participants.
The university is ready to continue cooperation with UNDP and accept participants for undergraduate and graduate programs in Marketing. In addition, the possibility of organizing additional courses for Afghan students from international partners of KBTU is being discussed, which will allow them to receive certificates and find employment in the international market.
In general, the meeting participants expressed their readiness to implement new joint projects and activities with UNDP.
