Dear students, undergraduates and doctoral students!

In order to ensure the safety of life and health of students and employees of KBTU, as well as in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 14, 2020 No. 108, KBTU switched to conducting classes using distance learning technologies (DLT).

From the moment of transition to online education and to this day, the university administration regularly conducts surveys among students, undergraduates, doctoral students and faculty staff about the progress of online education and existing problems. Surveys were conducted on the technical support and readiness of students to pass the examination session, separate online meetings were held with students, undergraduates and doctoral students, as well as meetings and consultations with teachers of each faculty on issues of training and exams using distance education technologies.

All exams previously provided by the curriculum are not canceled. According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the organization of intermediate and final attestations in universities during the pandemic, the examination session at KBTU will be held remotely.

Being one of the leading higher educational institutions of our country, even in conditions of emergency and quarantine, we strive to maintain high quality education and strict observance of the principles of academic integrity. In determining the form of exams, we also took into account the specifics of each discipline and the technical capabilities of students. The application of an integrated approach will allow everyone to freely participate in the spring examination session.

The Academic Council of KBTU No. 8 dated April 24, 2020 decided that the exams would be carried out in written, test and oral form, as well as in the form of group projects (home based open book). In some disciplines, it is possible to obtain a total score based on the results of the current attestation. In addition, given the sudden transition to a new form of training and technical problems that had to be encountered at the beginning of the training period in the DLT format, it was decided not to take into account the number of absenteeism of classes per semester for admission to the exam. Students who have scored 30 or more points in the intermediate attestations for the semester are allowed to the examination session.

After reading the instructions for each discipline, students, undergraduates and doctoral students, in the absence of the necessary technical devices, or connection to the Internet in order to participate in a particular exam, will have the opportunity to apply for an Incomplete score (“I” - "Discipline is not completed") with the condition of passing the exam orally until June 20, 2020.

In case of technical malfunctions during the exam for more than 10 minutes, students will be given the opportunity to retake the exam verbally during next 72 hours.

Retake FX will also be held remotely according to the academic calendar.

In order to provide students having technical difficulties or problems with the Internet, the opportunity to participate in the examination session, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the University are working with local executive bodies of the regions for students to use school resources in settlements.

As you know, some faculties, such as the Business School and the Kazakhstan Maritime Academy, have programs accredited by a number of international agencies, and the International School of Economics is affiliated with the London School of Economics with the right to issue University of London diplomas to graduates of a two-degree program. In this regard, KBTU and students have certain obligations to partners, therefore exams in correspondent disciplines of these faculties will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of partner universities and accreditation agencies.

The rules for conducting intermediate and final attestations during the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year using the DLT, as well as the schedule and instructions for passing the exams, will soon be available on the official website www.kbtu.kz and the Uninet portal. Over the next two days, deans of faculties and schools will organize meetings where you can get additional information about upcoming exams.

The website www.kbtu.kz and Uninet will continue to serve as a source of relevant information. If necessary, information will also be distributed through other channels of communication with students.

Follow all safety precautions, carefully monitor your health. Take care of yourself and your loved ones!

I wish you success!
