As we approach the examination period the KBTU chess club had a traditional intra-faculty championship.

Six teams took part in the tournament, two of which were represented by Business School, another two were presented by SEC MC, one team from FEOGI and one from FIT. For easier identification, the Business School representatives obtained such names as “Honey eaters” and “Omnivorous”. This also allowed figuring out which diet suited better for playing chess. SEC MC Players were divided into “Isakhov’s team” and “The Doors” teams.

At the beginning the leadership was held by FEOGI and “Honey eaters”. However, after the second tour the FIT team reached them too. The contest was tough. This team or another was pulling their way ahead in turns.

At the end, the first-place trophy was gained by the Faculty of Information Technology; the second and the third places were gained by the Business School’s “Honey eaters” and “Omnivorous”. In addition, some of the participants got individual encouragement awards.

Individual achievements were not recorded within the frames of the championship, but we would like to note the most effective chess players of the tournament. Among the male players victories were achieved in all their play-offs by Timur Nurzhanov (“Omnivorous”) and Nurdaulet Melissov (FIT), and among girls with just half a point less result were Gulbina Bolatbekkyzy (FIT) and Shakhinya Abdusalamova (“Honey eaters”).

We look forward to new tournaments!
