On 7th of November a team tournament on chess between higher-education institutions of the Republic “Chess semester in KBTU” started in the Kazakh-British Technical University.
There were 27 teams from HEI’s and schools of Kazakhstan that registered for that traditional tournament. Therefore, 108 young grandmasters took part in the competition.
“Chess semester in KBTU” is conducted according to the rules of the international chess federation FIDE. The results of the tournament will be summarized on November 9.
There is an active chess life in the Kazakh-British Technical University. The University conducts as internal tournaments, as competitions of city, republican and international scale on regular basis. The annual tournament “Chess semester in KBTU” and the international tournament for school students and prospective students “KBTU Open”, the winner of which receives a University grant, take pride of place.
