On September 14th families and students enjoyed graduation at the KBTU International School of Economics (ISE) Faculty – The Dean Professor Kretzschmar welcomed everyone to Kazakh British Technical University. To the beautiful London Room and Kunayev hall where it is fitting that ISE celebrate the best of KBTU - British and Kazakh brands.

In the magnificent and historic ISE building – birthplace of the modern Kazakhstan – ISE celebrated the graduation of truly exceptional young men and women. 35 ISE students received a diploma from the University of London (UOL). Of these, 19 in the specialty «Mathematics and Economics», 7 in the specialty «Economics», 8 in the specialty «Economics and Finance» and 1 in the specialty «Banking and Finance».

KBTU were honored to have some special guests with us to share this special day:

  • Ambassador of the UK in Kazakhstan, His Excellency Michael Gifford
  • KBTU Rector Kenzhebek Ibrashev
  • KBTU Vice Rectors Gulzada Shakulikova and Maratbek Gabdullin
  • Managing partner of the Deloitte Mark Smith
  • KBTU Board member Chingiz Kanapianov

As the only faculty in Central Asian partnering London School of Economics (LSE) and UOL – ISE Programmes continue to receive oversight from the LSE. This is an exceptional academic watermark – a stamp of quality respected the world over and tribute to the quality of our teaching staff.

The degrees ISE award is offered in partnership with the LSE - UOL Double Degree program. LSE as everyone knows ranks in the top 5 globally so when our students graduate with LSE supervision in the UOL double degree program? It really strands for something. The ISE Dean thanked KBTU Rector and Vice rector for their support – and our excellent faculty and our students. 55 Grants – 50 for Finance 5 for Economics. Rector and Vice Rector of KBTU support the top 5 students of each year with scholarships!

The past year has been amazing, ISE have achieved the seemingly impossible. Our students get 82% pass rate on the Аdvanced Placement (AP) examinations, up from 45% last year. And 85% on the UOL, up from 50% last year. Entered the global CFA Challenge – won the Central Asian CFA Challenge – flew to Zurich to compete.

Joined the AIFC Professional Mentorshipprogram – 30 young men and women have begun the professional qualification FRM – while still undergraduate students!

Most importantly, as a school, is the WAY the 4th students of ISE have achieved this – with dignity and with class. Thank you for a great day!
