A conference on "Modern Cybersecurity Technologies" was held at the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) on Friday 14 June in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Leading academics, IT experts and professionals, company representatives and government officials participated in the Conference.
The Event provided a platform to the participants to discuss and deliberate on consolidating efforts for the implementation of the "Third Modernization of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness" and "Kazakhstan 2050" programs. Prevention of cybercrime and countering cyber terrorism are important elements of the both Programs.
KBTU Professor Fuad Bey, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies, said the Conference is the first step to inform the public about the KBTU’s new program initiatives in the area of cybersecurity.
“As an internationally accredited leader in IT education and training, the KBTU is launching a new specialty in cybersecurity at master’s level along with other specializations to keep up with fast and complex changes that are taking place in the IT sector”, the Dean told.
The main sections of the conference on cybersecurity included:
• The geopolitical, legal and social aspects of cybersecurity and cybe-risk in modern conditions
• Cybersecurity of industrial facilities and infrastructure
• Cybersecurity software and hardware
• Modern methodical approaches and cybersecurity technologies
• Problems of assessing the cybersecurity of modern information systems
Participants and speakers shared their expert opinions on:
• Countering contemporary geopolitical challenges: Cybercrime, cyber terrorism and cyber war
• Industrial cybersecurity
• Cybersecurity information infrastructure and data center
• Legal, social and economic aspects of cyber-security
• Cybersecurity communications infrastructure and data center
• Theoretical and methodological problems of training specialists in the field of cyber security
