On October 13, KBTU management met with the co-president of the Institute of International Education (IIE), USA, Ms. A. Sarah Ilchman and the head of the recently opened IIE subsidiary organization “Steppe Global Education” in Kazakhstan, Mr. Joel Ericson.

IIE is a non-profit organization that coordinates training and professional development programs for students, teachers and professionals from various sectors of higher education.

.Ms. Ilchman spoke about the history of the organization, which dates back more than 100 years, and its main directions. Mr. Ericson spoke in more detail about the University Partnership Program between US and Kazakhstan universities.

This program is funded by the US Embassy in Kazakhstan and in 2023 IIE became its operator. In turn, Rector of KBTU Gabdullin M.T. expressed readiness to participate in the partnership program and named priority areas for development, including energy transition, hydraulic engineering, artificial intelligence, cyber security, etc.
