On June 27-28, GameLab KBTU, together with the Almaty IT Community Club, held events with the participation of managing partners from The Games Fund, one of the leading venture funds investing in video games. On June 27, Maria Kochmola and Ilya Eremeev met with representatives of Kazakhstan businesses at KBTU, and the next day, they attended an informal brunch with the local IT community in Gorelnik Gorge.
During the official meeting at KBTU, the fund's managing partners noted that they consider the Central Asian game development market to be one of the most promising in the present time. Additionally, they pointed out that the video game industry, which has long surpassed the film industry and other media in terms of volume, is highly transparent and understandable for investors. Real-time figures on video game downloads are readily available, making it easy to calculate the profitability of a particular game.
