On June 7, 2023, the International Seminar – «School - MegaPro» was held at the KBTU Scientific Library, dedicated to topical issues of information technology development in university libraries in Kazakhstan.

The seminar was held jointly with Data Express, the developer of the popular library system AILS «MegaPro».

The seminar was moderated by the director of the Scientific Library of KBTU, Abatova Anna Fedorovna.

Jumasseitova Asel Kenesovna, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the seminar.

The speakers of the seminar were: Gribov Vladimir Timofeyevich - General Director of Data Express LLC, Levova Lyudmila Vasiliyevna - Executive Director of Data Express LLC, Chemidova Alena Valeriyevna - Implementation and Technical Support Specialist of Data Express LLC, and Roza Sabirovna Akhmetova - Head of the Sector for Digitization of Documents at SL KBTU.

Leading specialists from the Data Express company spoke at the seminar, presenting the most important trends in the development of AILS for solving the problems of digitization and digital transformation of library activities. They also discussed the main functionalities and client-oriented services of AILS «MegaPro», and answered questions from users of this system in the libraries of Kazakhstan.

AILS «MegaPro» was introduced into the Scientific Library of KBTU in 2020. Akhmetova Roza Sabirovna shared her experience of implementation and use of AILS «MegaPro» in the university, highlighting important conceptual and practical issues of choosing and using AILS for the efficient operation of the library.

More than 50 representatives from the university and academic libraries of Almaty, Astana, Kyzylorda took part in the seminar. Additionally, around 40 people from different regions of the Republic connected to the online platform of the seminar. Numerous meetings of specialists took place within the framework of the seminar, facilitating the exchange of opinions and experiences in using the AILS «MegaPro» and outlining the prospects for further development of library and information technologies, as well as the provision of modern services for readers in the libraries of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the seminar, a tour was organized for the participants, allowing them to visit the Scientific Library, the Independence Hall, and the room named after D. Kunayev. Additionally, all participants were given certificates.
