New dormitory spaces will be available from 2024. Today, the leadership of the Kazakh-British Technical University presented a new dormitory to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the head of the Youth Policy Department of Almaty Kairzhan Mendigaliyev, the construction of which the university was the first among universities in Almaty to begin in February 2023.

At the meeting, representatives of KBTU gave a full tour of the facility, spoke about the construction of the dormitory, capacity, terms of commissioning, showed the materials used in construction and schemes of the entire building.

Providing students with dormitories today is an urgent and burning problem that Kazakhstani universities faced in September 2022. Most of the shortage of housing for students falls on the city of Almaty - more than 40%. In order to expand the housing stock and provide places for all non-resident students in need, the Board of Directors of KBTU in February of this year decided to build a new dormitory that meets international requirements. In the new dormitory, students will be provided with favorable conditions for gaining knowledge and comfortable living, sports and leisure.

Two nine-storey modern buildings with a capacity of 980 beds and a three-storey sports complex with a gym, a choreography room, and a hall for sports games such as football, basketball and volleyball will be erected.

KBTU began construction at its own expense. In May, an agreement was signed with the Financial Center JSC of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The construction company BI-Group was selected as the contractor through an open tender. All building codes and regulations are strictly observed.
