From February 1 to February 10, the annual International Zhautykov Olympiad (IJO) was held based on the Republican Physics and Mathematics School of Almaty. This year more than 1200 participants from 26 countries of the world including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, India, Turkey, Vietnam, Nepal, Austria, Poland, Peru, Egypt, Germany, and the UK took part. IJO is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center «Daryn» and the Almaty Akimat.
This year, 31 Kazakhstan high school students (7 in mathematics, 12 in physics, and 12 in computer science) became holders of KBTU grants based on the results of the IJO.
