On March 14, 2023, a round table was held at KBTU on the topic «Meeting the global demand for electricity with the help of environmentally friendly alternatives».

The event was attended by the Rector of KBTU Gabdullin M.T., General Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (GEIDCO) Xupeng Chen, Vice-President of the Kazakhstan Academy of Natural Sciences Shkolnik V.S., Administrator of LLP «International Scientific Center for Energy Integration» under National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Omiralin A.O., scientific adviser Laumulin Ch.T., vice-rector for scientific and innovative activities of NJSC «Almaty University of Energy and Communications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev» Saukhimov A.A. and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Aliyarov B.K. and other domestic experts and scientists.

Experts and scientists in their speeches noted that the integration of energy systems within the framework of the GEI initiative will positively affect the development of green technology and clean energy sources, strengthen the reliability of interconnected energy systems and lead to the development of regional electricity trade.

At the same time, during the discussion, the experts also drew the attention of the participants to the fact that today the main key obstacle to the successful and widespread implementation of the GEI initiative is the geopolitical and regional disagreements that have developed in the world.

Based on the results of the Round Table, the participants agreed to cooperate with GEIDCO and conduct joint research projects to explore the possibilities of Kazakhstan's participation in GEIDCO initiatives and their promotion in Central Asia.
