On November 14, professor of high energy physics Andy Parker gave a guest lecture on the topic "CAVENDISH LABORATORY: PAST, PRESENT AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE". During the lecture, Professor Parker introduced the history of the Cavendish Laboratory, described selected research activities, covered current redevelopments of the laboratory, and answered the questions of KBTU’s students and academic staff.
Cavendish Laboratory, UK, is a prestigious laboratory of the Department of Physics at Cambridge University. Cavendish heritage includes 33 Nobel Prize winners and such major discoveries as an electron, neutron, DNA structure, exoplanets, etc. Today Cavendish Laboratory’s research interest lies in high energy physics, astrophysics, quantum devices and measurements, biological and biomedic physics, emerging quantum phenomena, etc.
