On September 29, the first day of the VII World Petroleum Council Youth Forum was held at KBTU. The meeting opened with an address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Head of Kazakhstan noted that WPC is a global dialogue platform that attracts young professionals from different countries to search for new approaches to accelerate changes in the energy sector. “Young specialists and scientists can make a significant contribution to the development of the energy sector of the new millennium,” the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.

Within the framework of the Forum, a series of plenary sessions and round tables were held to discuss issues of decarbonization, global energy security, petrochemicals, as well as international contributions to achieve the energy transition. Professors of the Kazakh-British Technical University, Akzhalova A. Zh. and Laumulin Ch. T. and Ismailov A. A., Dean of the School of Energy and Oil and Gas Industry took part in these discussions as speakers.

World Petroleum Council President Pedro Miras noted that the ideas put forward by young professionals and students can play a key role in achieving the main goals of the World Petroleum Council, namely, to overcome the energy crisis and successfully carry out the energy transition.
