In 2022, the first KBTU graduates established a Scholarship from KBTU Alumni in honor of Maulen Burashev, a 2006 graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Finance of KBTU (now the Business School). The scholarship is sponsored by Maulen's fellow students, graduates of 2006 and 2007. The student of the Business School Aida Bolatkyzy became the owner of the scholarship.

“Maulen was one of the successful students of our university. In 2002 we were the first freshmen. From the first days within the walls of KBTU, he began to participate in student life, as a result of which he was elected the first President of the Student Board of KBTU. It was he and his team who laid the foundations for the principles of the student government, which still function today. Under the leadership of Maulen, many student activities were carried out for the first time, for example, "Initiation". Maulen was one of the founders of the KBTU Debate club, then on an annual basis an international debate tournament was held within the walls of the university under the auspices of the UN. He was fluent in Russian, Kazakh, English and Spanish. Maulen was also the leader of the football team of his faculty. According to his uncompromising game, scoring instinct and speed, his team became the first KBTU football champion among faculties. Maulen's academic record was also outstanding. He graduated with honors from the university, and then received a master's degree from the University of Bristol and worked for KPMG, Halyk Finance, Visor Capital. He spent the last years of his career at Halyk Leasing and E&Y as CFO.

We knew Maulen as an honest, open, purposeful person and a reliable friend. Maulen personified an example of a worthy citizen of our country, and we hope that he will be a role model for future generations” - graduates of 2006 and 2007.
