The team tournament "Chess semester at KBTU" for higher educational institutions and schools with an international baccalaureate of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held from 24 to 27 November 2021. As in previous years, the tournament was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds according to the rules of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

 

The tournament was attended by 24 teams, each of which showed a commendable game during 9 rounds. After the recent KBTU GOLDEN JUBILEE tournament, players were looking even more seriously at the desired result.

 

We would like to highlight three winners in the team competition. The KBTU-1 team, having shown themselves as the real master of the field, took the 1st place. The team included students: Timur Nurzhanov (BS, 3rd year), Abilmansur Abdilkhair (FEOGI, 1st year), Aibek Katenov (FIT, 1st year) and Zhagyl Kteuova (BS, 1st year). The PMSS team took 2nd place, and the Satbayev University-1 team finished the top three.

The closing ceremony, like the tournament itself, took place on a grand scale. According to tradition, not a single participant of the tournament was left without a gift, and prizes and gifts were presented by Professor of the Basic Faculty, Grandmaster Vladimirov E.Y. and representatives of the KBTU management: acting Rector Gabdullin M.T. and Dean of the Basic Faculty Beisenov R.E.

 

Gabdullin M.T. in his speech thanked the teams for participating in the tournament, congratulated them on their victories, noting: “The best investment is investment in education and development. Therefore, you are all on the right track! "
