On January 30, the chess club of KBTU held an annual individual championship among bachelor students and Master’s program students.

19 bachelor students and 1 Master’s program student from different faculties of the university participated in the tournament. The tournament lasted for about three hours. There were 90 sets played in 9 tours. The pairs were combined by means of a random draw in a special program. The sports battle passed in good and benevolent atmosphere.

After the fifth tour leadership was at Timur Nurzhanov, 1st year student of our Business School. He hasn’t lost any of his sets before the end of the tournament and having gained the maximum amount of points, he gained the first place worthily. The second place was given to Gazhaiyp Mukazhanov, also a first-year student of the Business School; the third was taken by Murat Kenesbayev, Master’s program student of the Faculty of Information Technologies.

The winners of the tournament got the prize bowls. Two of the winners were selected for the Super bowl KBTU. Another two participants will be selected in personal Bowl, which will take place in February.

Our congratulations to all the winners and participants of the tournament! We wish you further achievements and victories! Look forward to witnessing new tournaments!
