In December, a guest lecture by representatives from the HR department of Philip Morris Kazakhstan took place at the Business School for 3rd-year students of the "Management", "Marketing", "Finance", and "Entrepreneurship" programs. The guest lecture was held as part of the "Human Resource Management" course, taught by PhD, Assistant Professor Kairzhan Abdykhalikov. The topic of the lecture was: Empowering Talent: A Comprehensive Look at PMK’s HR Functions and Candidate Journey
The speakers were: Kristina Ten - Senior Team Lead Talent Acquisition, Aziza Nauryzbaeva - Recruitment Team Lead, Zhansaya Shardarbek - Talent Acquisition Executive.
The guest speakers discussed, through real practical cases, the functions of the HR (People & Culture) department at Philip Morris Kazakhstan and the responsibilities of each sub-department. They outlined the journey from being a job candidate to becoming a new employee, and how the integration (adaptation) of a new employee takes place within the company. The speakers also shared information about HR department programs and initiatives: international assignments, career opportunities for graduates, the PMK Women’s Support Community, the PMK Parents Support Community, the introduction of a recognition culture, and more.
Overall, the lecture was met with great interest from the students, and the speakers from Philip Morris invited our students to apply for internships at their company. The Business School considers it important to integrate education with industry, especially for such a relevant field as HRM.
Inviting guest speakers from various industries for the "Human Resource Management" course has become a good tradition, initiated 2 years ago by the course instructor, Assistant Professor Kairzhan Abdykhalikov.
