On March 28, 2023, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a skills marathon for Kazakhstan women involved in science was held in Astana. Thirty-seven women scientists from across the country took part in an event designed to develop their research capacity and soft skills, which are key to their careers.

From KBTU took part: Mankhanova Azhar Erlanovna, head of the educational and methodological center, Makhmetova Ardak Sayatovna, deputy head of the educational and methodological center, Sarybekova Lyazzat Omarovna, associate professor at the School of Applied Mathematics, Dosan Aizada Dosankyzy, lecturer at the School of Geology and Kaidarova Nazym Almasovna, senior lecturer at the School of Information Technology and Engineering.

The marathon was coached by representatives of the public sector, NGOs, scientists, and businesses. The speakers held training seminars on communications, commercialization of scientific projects and systems thinking.

The event also brought the participants together with a common goal of promoting active action to combat climate change in Kazakhstan. The Skills Marathon was held as part of the UNDP Kazakhstan project “Leveraging Nationally Determined Contributions to Achieve Zero Emissions and Climate Resilience in Response to the Climate Emergency”, funded by the Government of Japan.
