Since its foundation in 2002, FIT has been offering the following Programs.

5B070200 Automation and Control (AU)

5B070300 Information Systems (IS)

5B070400 Computer Systems and Software (CSS)

Having in mind that:

- the world around us is constantly changing;

- the interests of students enrolled in any of the above specialties may change and this change of interests is very natural (according to several years of statistics, about 30% of students prefer narrow specialization not within the specialty itself);

- in the conditions of constantly changing demands of the labour market, it is necessary to prepare future graduates based on these requests;

FIT from the 2017-18 school year revised the ideology of education at the School, making it even more flexible to accommodate the changing interests of both students and the labour market.

Today, every student, regardless of the beginning specialty of enrolment, receives a powerful mathematical base for 3-4 semesters, including 6 courses (20 credits), a block of programming languages, algorithms and databases (another 14 credits) and about 10 credits for compulsory subjects in the specialty of choice.

Starting with the 4th semester, a student can choose various Career Paths (CP) or Concentration Areas (CA) regardless of the Program. In parallel, he covers the minimum set of Program’s items for which a student is enrolled.

To this end, each student is given the opportunity to take:

• 6 Major Elective courses in various areas of ICT, these are CPs provided by the FIT on the basis of recommendations of the companies, members of the FIT Industrial Committee, or certain compulsory subjects from adjacent Programs, and

• 4 Free Elective courses based on their free choice from any KBTU School or partner universities.

After the accomplishment of any CP, the student is given an additional certificate of qualification in this direction.

Currently FIT Implement the following Career Paths which start  at 4th semester:

-Big Data Analytics

-Computer graphics and Design

-Digital Media

- Competitive Programming

- Theoretical Informatics

- Artificial Intelligence

- Databases

- Full Stack WEB Development

- Mobile Development

- DevOps etc

In addition, FIT supports the BEST bachelor's program from the Business School (Bachelor in Economics, Social Sciences and Technologies) in the following cycle: Programming - Information Systems - Data Science.

One of the most popular and promising forms of education is the dual approach, when students receive a portion of educational credits while working in certain companies. We have begun to introduce this format with IT companies since 2018. The highlight for working students here is that the student not only works in the company, but in fact continues to study there and earns study credits for it. This saves both the student’s time resources and the university’s material and time resources. In this case, the training takes place in the company itself, which makes the process even more efficient.

From the 2018-19 school year, the FIT also launched in the frame of AU Program an accelerated (about 3 years) program for APEC College graduates (Atyrau) based on the college’s campus itself. We intend to expand this approach, as the rapidly developing IT market requires accelerated training of young professionals. The latter is only possible if the students have already covered some parts of the program in their Colleges.

In addition, we offered graduates of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS) the opportunity to master the curriculum in less than 4 years. This became possible due to 12 years of study at NIS since a certain number of credits are already covered at these schools.

Since 2018, the number of students leaving for academic exchange programs at partner universities in Europe (France, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Portugal, United Kingdom, Poland), CIS countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus) has sharply increased. Starting in 2019, exchange programs will open with universities in the Baltic states (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia), as well as universities in South Korea. Exchange programs arethe brilliant opportunity to expand educational services in the sense of the breadth and depth of educational programs.
